ACTION ALERT: Darfur: Not Another Hotel Rwanda!

Despite the attention that the crisis in Darfur has been attracting recently, little to nothing has been done to stop the ongoing genocide that has claimed over 400,000 lives and displaced 2 million people in Sudan. Here are two things you can do to help end the genocide In Darfur.

Report of the International Commission of Inquiry on Darfur:
A critical analysis (Part I)

The report of the International Commission of Inquiry on Darfur, delivered to UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan on January 25, 2005 (the date of record for the document), is of immense importance. This report offers us by far the most complete and compelling picture of massive criminality in the Darfur conflict, and establishes beyond any reasonable doubt the vastly disproportional culpability of Khartoum's regular military forces and its Janjaweed militia allies.

.Eric Reeves, February 2nd, 2005

DARFUR PROTEST ACTION- Action required on Tuesday, February 8th!

This Tuesday, February 8, 2005, Khartoum's National Islamic Front regime will address the UN Security Council in New York City. Representing theregime will be the enormously powerful First Vice President, Ali Osman Taha.

Taha's name appears on an important list of genocidaires compiled in a report by the US Congress
.

Sudan Update - At this moment, terrible things are happening today in Darfur, Sudan"--- Kofi Annan, January 24, 2005, to the UN General Assembly

Kofi Annan's statement today of this long conspicuous truth must still gain significance from its extraordinary context. For Annan was addressing the UN General Assembly and world leaders on the occasion of an unprecedented UN commemoration of the Holocaust of World War II. There could be no more powerful reference to human evil and mass destruction. Eric Reeves, January 25, 2005

SUDAN UPDATE - Current Proposals for Responding to Genocide in Darfur: A compendium and critique of suggestions from the international community
Various voices within the international community have proposed a number of different responses to ongoing, massive genocidal destruction in Darfur. Whether motivated by shame, human rights commitments, political expediency, or humanitarian concerns, these proposals are now numerous enough and come from enough different sources that they require some critical assessment, both as to efficacy and practicability - Eric Reeves, September 23, 2004.
